Educational Consultations
Sometimes it can be difficult to determine what steps to take if your child is finding it more challenging to cope with the demands of literacy and numeracy. Our Educational Specialists are available to speak to one on one.
Why have an educational consult?
A chance to talk openly to an expert and to have your concerns heard.
Who is it for?
If you’re concerned about your child, whether they are in primary or secondary, this is a great first step to help you find a road map and introduce you to options. You will make a valuable connection with one of our educational specialists. It is for parents/carers who want to know how they can further help their child.
What is it?
A 1 hour discussion about your child and the concerns you have. Prior to the session you will have been exchanging information with us about your child, for example their age, level of schooling, providing any previous reports or assessments and what you hope to achieve with the session.
What type of information will I receive?
- You’ll receive advice on what you can expect from school, general strategies on how to help your child at home and school and help to understand a child’s diagnosis, if they have one.
- We can also go through with you recommended resources that are available.
An Educational Consult with SPELD SA will not provide a diagnosis of a specific learning difficulty. Only a psychologist can provide this diagnosis. See SPELD SA Psychological Assessment service.
