Academic Skills Assessments

An Academic Skills Assessment will help identify individual learning strengths and weaknesses in order to understand where your child sits in relation to their current learning environment in literacy and/or numeracy. On completion of the assessment, you are provided with a report that outlines which areas the school and/or tutor should target along with recommended strategies and resources to support them.

Conducted by an experienced special education teacher.
Assesses a student’s skill development and performance across literacy and/or numeracy as captured in that moment of time.
Provides recommendations and strategies that can be used by school, parents and tutors to support the student in their education.

Literacy Assessment

Cost: $600

  • Consists of observation, discussion, and a series of short screens and tests, involving verbal, auditory and hands-on activities.
  • Screening offered include articulation, auditory discrimination, phonemic awareness, sound and letter knowledge, reading, spelling, writing and handwriting.
  • 2-Hour consultation with feedback presented on the day
  • Written Assessment & Recommendations Report

Numeracy Assessment

Cost $600

  • Series of hands-on tasks look at the child’s understanding of ‘number’, examining their thinking processes and strategies applied when solving number-related problems
  • Concepts covered include number, counting, subitising, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • 2-Hour consultation with feedback presented on the day
  • Written Assessment & Recommendations Report

Combined Literacy & Numeracy Assessment

Cost $900

  • A joint review will be conducted over two sessions
  • 3-3½ hour consultation with feedback presented on the day
