Sounds-Write Training
Sounds-Write Practitioner Training
SPELD SA’s qualified Sounds-Write trainer can deliver Practitioner Training to your school or organisation, or as an individual at one of the SPELD SA in-house training courses.
What is Sounds-Write?
Sounds-Write is an evidence-based phonics program utilising an exciting and highly successful approach to the teaching of reading, spelling and writing.
The course offers an instructional method that is structured, cumulative, sequential and explicit; all of which are strongly recommended for teaching children to read and spell.
It places emphasis on providing practice that is grounded in physical, concrete experience of the skills and conceptual understanding that students need to assimilate.
Sounds-Write is developmentally appropriate for beginning readers in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, and also offers fast and highly effective intervention for children at all year levels who have fallen behind in their reading and spelling from Year 3 onward.
About the Training
The Sounds-Write course is delivered over four days. Participants can consolidate their learning by completing a self-directed assignment in the month following the training.
The course capacity is capped at 24 to ensure the best delivery of this intensive program. In-house at SPELD SA is capped at 16 due to venue size.
How much will it cost?
The fee of $900 (inc GST) per person include the Sounds-Write UK licence fee, assignment marking and Sounds-Write resources.
When delivered at regional sites, travel charges will be in addition to the training fee.
Individual learning in a SPELD SA Training Course
Advance notice of these training sessions, and pricing can be seen on the SPELD SA Workshops and Events page. Participants will be provided with all resources required to use the program with students in their setting. On completion of the training, participants can consolidate their learning by completing a self-directed assignment in the month following the training.
The individual training also provides an opportunity for schools or professionals who are considering the Sounds-Write program for their site, to register a colleague to get an understanding of how the program works. Completion of the training does not allow for teaching the program to other staff or practitioners and course materials cannot be shared.
